Save Money On Your Car!
SAVE MONEY ON YOUR CAR
With fuel prices ramped up, saving money where we can is crucial. You don’t want to be wasting money on other car expenses. By taking note of these ways in which you could be wasting money on your car, you can prevent just that.
1. Changing your oil too often:
The age-old advice of changing your oil every 3000 miles is just that- archaic. Progress within the field has made this advice redundant- today, oil is purer, oil filters weed out more contaminants and engines tolerances are such that fewer contaminant particles get into the oil. Forego general advice and check what your driver’s manual has to say.
2. Buying mileage-boosting additives or devices:
Ads for oil additives or a varying array of devices that will boost your car’s mileage are becoming more and more common. Do not fall for them as scientific evidence proving the effectiveness of these addons is non-existent.
3. Engine or air-conditioner tune-ups:
Another relic of a by-gone era. Yes, you should perform maintenance on your engine and air-conditioner, but only if need be. Built-in computers are always tuning-up engines in modern cars. If your air conditioner is still blowing cold air, it is fine, and doesn’t need to be “tuned up”.
At the end of the day, using your driver’s manual as a guideline is the best way to ensure that your car is in tip-top shape without having to fork out any extra cash.
