Do You Know What Type Of Service Is Best For Your Car?

WHAT TYPE OF SERVICE IS BEST FOR YOUR CAR

This newsletter is geared towards car owners; specifically, those that are newly crowned as such. The world of automobile repairs can be overwhelming to newcomers, and learning how to maintain your vehicle can seem daunting- more on that in the next newsletter. In this newsletter, I’d like to introduce to you the three types of car service. Knowing which type of car service suits your needs is integral to the effective upkeep of your vehicle.

INTRODUCING 3 TYPES OF CAR SERVICE

Interim Car Service:

An interim car service is designed for drivers with high mileage- those with 20 000 miles or more a year. With the car clocking in more miles, there’s going to be more wear and tear.

This type of car service will usually include an oil change, oil filter change, and an inspection of the car’s main components, such as lights, tires, and windscreen wipers. Various fluids- such as engine and brake fluids- will be topped up. The vehicle will also be thoroughly inspected for any fluid leaks.

Full Car Service:

brake-inspection

This type of service is designed for drivers that have an average mileage and should be done every 12 months or 12000 miles, whichever comes first. If you’ve recently had a major service, it is recommended that your next car service should be a full service.

In addition to those carried out during an interim service, a full car service includes a vast array of checks and service replacement parts. These include, but are not limited to an air filter change, a fuel filter and spark plugs change, extensive brake inspection and wheel bearing and shock absorbers inspection.

Major Car Service:

This is the most comprehensive service package. A vehicle should undergo a major car service every 2 years or 24000 miles. It is also recommended if you’d had a full service within the last couple of years.

This package includes everything from a full car service- there’s little a mechanic won’t check. Most fluids and filters will be replaced and the mechanic will carry out comprehensive safety checks. In addition, parts recommended for replacement every two years will be changed.

Figuring out which type of car service you need depends on an array of things: your mileage, the age of your car, the make and model, and the last type of car service you had done.
